'The Walking Dead' Season 7 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Updates: Director Teases Major Storyline Changes As Negan Starts A 'New World Order'

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 is coming back in the fall of 2016 and its director, Greg Nicotero, has given away some spoilers. The bulk of the new direction the show is taking involves Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) starting a "new world order."

It is expected that the first few minutes of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 premiere will be entirely devoted to flashbacks and the continuation of the cliff hanger scene that ended Season 6. According to Nicotero, viewers should be prepared for some major power changes.

He explained that Season 7 will be a "different The Walking Dead." He says that he thinks people will be delighted by how the show continuously changes and develops. It does not give the viewers the same thing over and over again. He further thinks that this is the logical direction where the TV series should proceed.

For the comic book fans, the introduction of Negan's character shook up the books. Glenn's death coupled with Negan's sudden control of power was completely felt by Rick and his group. However, it is said that the TV series will not be following the exact turn out of events in the books. Nicotero explained that he thinks they will not be giving justice to the work if they will be copying the books word per word. However, the production team will still be putting iconic moments that pays tribute to the comic book series in order to give the comic book fans that they are getting their money's worth, Comic Book reported.

The TV show follows a split schedule and adheres to a pattern where it shifts stories every eight episodes. It is projected that Negan's presence in the show will put a different take on the show's storytelling. More so, viewers can expect less of Rick since he will be getting accustomed to not being the lead man in camp. Nicotero said that Negan's big kill will not be the same as how the comic book readers would expect it to be.

Fans and viewers of the show can also expect major location changes. Also, there will be several character introductions. Critics are hoping that these changes that Nicotero will be applying refer to concepts that are foundational for the storyline. Viewers will all find out as "The Walking Dead" Season 7 comes out on October on AMC, Cinema Blend shared.
