KFC India has launched a promo where customers get a free battery pack with their meal. However, it appears that the KFC power bank included in "Watt a Box" falls short in performance.
One of the consistent problems that gadget users face are drained batteries. This is applicable in all kinds of gadgets regardless of how advanced or high tech they are. Thus, KFC India decided to take advantage of the situation and offer its consumers a temporary solution for the problem. The fast food chain introduced its 5-in-1 meal set called "Watt a Box", CNet reports.
KFC collaborated with the Mumbai based digital company called Blink Digital in creating the limited edition KFC "Watt a Box." The meal offers a variety of food choices that will be served in a meal box that has a power bank in it. The charging capacity of the free battery pack is labelled to be 6,000mAh. It should be able to charge one full battery of two cell phones, assuming that each cellphone has a 2,600mAh capacity. It can be bought for 150 rupees or $2.20.
The box itself has magnetic flaps, as well. The meal is inside while a power bank is integrated on the side. Diners can also find a micro-USB port and lightning cables that enables consumers to charge their gadgets. More so, the KFC power bank can be removed from the box. Hence, it is already yours to keep and take along with you after you dine.
Although the KFC power bank projects to charge 6,100 mAh, BRG India says otherwise. It seems that company tested how it fares and results were very far from expected. An iPhone 5s was charged and it only gained 17 percent battery coming from half-an-hour charging. The power bank got drained after that. The power bank was recharged to 100 percent again and this time a Redmi Note 3 was charged using the free battery pack. The Redmi Note 3 only gained seven percent then the power bank died again, BRG India observed.
Definitely, the KFC power bank was made for consumers to charge their phones while they eat and provide a minimal energy boost to their phones. However, it seems it cannot be used as an emergency power bank, especially if one needs to have maximum battery charge. Nonetheless, diners and gadget enthusiasts are still loving the concept of the fast food chain.
