Charlie Hunnam is best known for his portrayal as “Jax Teller” on “Sons of Anarchy” but may not be around in the planned spin-off.
Charlie Hunnam was interviewed by the Men’s Journal recently and it included a key revelation as far as his working relationship with director Kurt Sutter.
Charlie Hunnam would reveal in the interview that it was not always smooth sailing between him and Sutter. In fact, it reached a point where both Hunnam and Sutter almost came to blows on set. Thankfully nothing of the like ever happened.
Is the feud the reason behind the exclusion?
For those who are unaware, Charlie Hunnam’s character “Jax Teller” was killed last season. Hunnam was aware of the plan and had no qualms about it.
“I knew he was going to kill himself,” Sutter added. “I was reading those pages and Jax was different. I called Kurt and we had a long conversation.”
The conversation between Hunnam and Sutter turned out to be for the best with Hunnam realizing that “Jax” was better off dying.
“At the end of it we both realized that it would have been more tragic to let him live after what he had gone through,” said Hunnam.
Charlie Hunnam may be out of the picture but he still keeps tabs with the developments tied up with “Sons of Anarchy”. In fact he is aware that “Brad Pitt” may be taking on the role of “Jax’s” dad (“John Teller”) in the planned spinoff.
“Sons of Anarchy” Prequel Plans
As far as the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff, Sutter plans to do 10 to 12 episodes. It will reportedly cover how “Piney”, “John” and “Nam” started the club which should be pretty interesting to check out especially for the “SOA” the fans per HOF Mag.
Will he return to reprise role on “Pacific Rim 2”?
Aside from “Sons of Anarchy”, Charlie Hunnam is also a key figure on the “Pacific Rim” movie. Hunnam portrayed “Raleigh Becket” in the first instalment but right now there is no confirmation if he will reprise his role.
Though Hunnam is proud of what “Pacific Rim 1” achieved, he singled out how his character failed to develop in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
With the “Pacific Rim 1” focusing more on robots, Hunnam hoped that the sequel would focus on character development as well. Could this be one reason why Universal Studios has held back on whether Charlie Hunnam would return or not?
