"Star Wars: Rogue One" is currently in development. Although the plot details have remained under wraps, recent updates on the character and cast list have been provided.
The principal characters in the upcoming movie have been leaked. Fans may find a number of familiar faces, although others are entirely new. "Star Wars: Rogue One" is the first standalone project in the film franchise. Here are the figures that will shape the story soon.
1. Entertainment Weekly revealed that Felicity Jones will play the main hero, JynErso. Jyn had a rough experience since she was a teenager and has been independent since. At the beginning of the movie, Jyn will be serving a sentence with the Rebellion.
2. Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) is the father of Jyn, although estranged from her. He holds a lot of knowledge and is wanted by both the Rebellion and the Empire.
3. Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is an Imperial leader who tries to do everything to keep his superior, Darth Vader, pleased at all times.
4. Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). He is an intelligence officer and the keeper of Erso at the Rebel camp.
5. Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen). The warrior monk possesses several qualities that Jedi have, although he himself is not a Jedi. He is blind but is extremely powerful.
6. Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen). He is the best friend of Chirrut, although his personality is quite different from the latter. He is more brutish and less spiritual.
7. Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed). He is the technical and volatile lead pilot of the squad in the middle of the movie.
8. K-250 (Alan Tudyk). He is reportedly the opposite of C-3Po. He is also called Kaytoo but is not as friendly towards humans. He is seeking to redeem his dark past.
9. Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker). The character initially appeared in the Star Wars animated series. He used to be part of the rebel troop under Anakin Skywalker. In the new movie, he will be a major radical and holds a lot of grudge.
Polygon also noted other characters who will be present in "Star Wars: Rogue One." The enforcer droid, K-250, will be joining the rogue team. Bodhi is a rebel soldier, while Pad and Bistan were described as fierce nonhuman warriors. There will also be two new fighters, namely the TIE Striker and U-Wing fighter, who will be joining the Empire and Alliance, respectively. Darth Vader has been spotted several times, confirming that the famous Sith lord will be part of the film.
"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is set to premiere on Dec. 16, 2016.
