“Injustice 2” is not expected to debut until 2017 for the PS4 and Xbox One though a lot of expectations are tied up to it, particularly the goodies to expect from DLCs.
NetherRealm has been known to do just that but as far as “Injustice 2” is concerned, creative director Ed Boon sees this one having the most add-ons as the game developer employs an aggressive approach.
Such comes in line with Boon’s goal. He wants to do more with every game and hopefully such can last for a longer period time per an interview with IGN. He points out some of NetherRealm’s previous patches.
“With DLC characters, we’ve had four with Mortal Kombat, six with Injustice, eight with Mortal Kombat X, and with Injustice 2 we plan on continuing that pattern,” said Boon.
More than just Character DLCs ahead
Looking ahead, the more aggressive approach tied up to “Injustice 2” DLCs is not solely focused on seeing new characters.
Boon explains that future key features would include player customization and item unlocks which would allow players to work for them rather than pay up front.
But what if players are not inclined to invest that much time on the game? How can these purported special items and customizations materialize? A safe answer is to see players paying for such a privilege though Boon admits that they have to "cast the biggest net possible to get as many players into it as possible."
The NetherRealm team is filled with ideas on how to go about it as well as other improvements on the make “Injustice 2” another blockbuster game to look out for. The problem is everything is technically deemed a “work in progress” as mentioned on VG247.
He and the team have the ideas in mind but the challenge is coming up with the best one to make “Injustice 2” a game that can carry on features like customization, longevity and the overall moulding of player characters.
