A race of blood thirsty devourers of blood set out on a quest to reclaim an ancient relic, that should it be attained by vampires, will release the frozen blood of the most powerful, immortal vampire, Kain.
It is up to gamers to stop the undead by controlling the unlikely duo of a vampire hunter and a blood-thirsty vampire in DTP Entertainment recently announced Blood Knights, a new vampire action-RPG, is headed to consoles and PC.
The gameplay contains elements of the hack'n'slash genre as well. Blood Knights is developed by German studio Deck 13, who previously worked on Venetica and Ankh.
DTP says the game features "intense combat, tons of weapons, items as well as vampiric abilities that put players in total control over their enemies and let them feel the powers that vampires wield in the Blood Knights universe."
According to the game's site, the games plot revolves around the seal of blood which has prevented the vampires from setting foot on the Earth for thousands of years. The seal contains the frozen blood of a powerful, immortal vampire named Kain. The guardian of the seal has died, and the vampires are trying to acquire it. But the humans have sent their best vampire hunters to stop them.
The game's true protagonist is the legendary vampire hunter, Jeremy, who is forced into a blood-bond with the deadly vampires, Alysa. Together, the two enemies are the last hope to restore the balance of the world.
Blood Knights will hit Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC on Oct. 31 for 1200 Microsoft points or $14.99.
