UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will be defending her title against Amanda Nunes next month but “Cupcake” seems to have something more in mind ahead.
Throughout her career, she has suffered two key losses at the hands of Ronda Rousey who was still undefeated the last time they met. Tate drew prominence for being the only fighter to last more than a round against “Rowdy”, something that came to an end following Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 back in November.
Rousey has since been out of the Octagon though the UFC continues to claim that she will return later this year. And when that happens, Tate hopes to be the first one to welcome her – with the assumption that she is still the champion.
Miesha’s Wants Revenge
Before Miesha Tate can even consider a third showdown with Ronda Rousey, she needs to overcome Amanda Nunes first this July. She has proven her toughness when she defeated Holly Holm but the UFC has seen worse things happen.
Hence, Nunes is a fierce competitor and also hungry. Those traits are the same things Tate carried against Holm and everyone knows how that turned out. Against Nunes, “Cupcake” cannot afford to be cocky.
"Right now I'm trying to really stay focused on Amanda and I know everyone is excited for that Rousey fight," Tate said via MMA Fighting. "I hope that's something that happens. But I don't want to overlook Amanda, because if I don't beat Amanda there's no next."
For now, Ronda Rousey continues to hold back despite the UFC claiming that her return will be against whoever stands as champion by the time she decides to fight once more.
"I'm at the best point of my career, and she's at the worst," said Tate via ESPN.
Ready for ‘Cyborg’
Assuming Tate does get over Nunes and Rousey is still indisposed, would she be open to facing Cris “Cyborg” Justino?
Tate is considering it and is open to such, responding with just three words via TMZ, “BRING IT ON!”.
