“The Flash” Season 3 will adapt the “Flashpoint” storyline, the same one used in the comics. Much of this was speculated following the season 2 finale which saw “Barry Allen/Flash” (Grant Gustin) saving her mother “Nora Allen” (Michelle Harrison) from the “Reverse Flash”.
All this was revealed in a post here on GamenGuide yesterday. In that post, Gustin revealed through Entertainment Weekly, had already read the script for season 3 and then tweeted that "The Flash" Season 3 would be titled “Flashpoint."
FLASHPOINT. This is not drill. https://t.co/nzq2NJh9pl

With that confirmed, many DC fans will scamper to review once again the series of events in "The Flash" Season 3 that had transpired in the comic book version or even that animated rendition titled “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox,” which came out in 2013.
Who plays Thomas Wayne in 'The Flash' Season 3?
One key character to watch out for is “Thomas Wayne”. Per the comic book version, the actions of “The Flash” have caused major changes, including Barry losing his powers and becoming a normal civilian, which is said to be followed by "The Flash" Season 3.
Barry will expectedly try to get his powers back but will need help in "The Flash" Season 3. If the comic book version is to be followed, he will get help from an unlikely “Batman” in the person of “Thomas Wayne."
In the normal world, “Thomas Wayne” was the actual one killed and “Bruce Wayne” surviving. But due to “The Flash” alteration, it was the other way around. So unless the producers find some way to work around that, “Thomas Wayne” is likely to be appearing as the caped crusader in “The Flash" Season 3.
If so, who should take the role? Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan hinted his interest in the role when he was thrown the question at the Denver Comic Con by a fan per reports from Comic Book Movie. “Man, I would love to play that Batman… It would be very cool. Flashpoint would be very cool," Jeffrey Dead Morgan said, whiich sparked reports about him playing Batman in "The Flash" Season 3.
Nothing New for Morgan should he become Batman in 'The Flash' Season 3
For Morgan, possibly landing the role in "The Flash" Season 3 would be nothing new. He has starred in superhero flicks in the past.
He portrayed the “Comedian” on “Watchmen” and actually played “Thomas Wayne” on “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice." The latter could be a good angle to seriously consider him to reprise the role though that decision will fall at the hands of "The Flash" Season 3 producers.
Right now it remains to be seen if “The Flash” Season 3 does follow the script in the comics or the animated version. There could be changes forthcoming but just in case, Morgan has tossed his name into the mix for good measure.
“The Flash” Season 3 returns on CW on Oct. 4, 2016.
