'Allison Road' Developer Finally Speaks Up On Cancellation; But Still Says Very Little

Lilith Ltd., the developing studio and publisher of "Allison Road," recently provided some statements regarding the show's cancellation, although the reason why the project was shut down remains unknown.

Previously, "Allison Road" left the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform to join the new Team17 publishing label. However, it appears that the collaboration between the two groups will no longer continue.

VG247 reported that Team17 first announced that "Allison Road" will be canceled. The horror game was inspired by P.T., the withdrawn playable teaser for the canceled game "Silent Hills" by Hideo Kojima.

Team17 wrote that after discussing with Chris Kesler, owner of Lilith Ltd., they have come to a mutual agreement to end their partnership in publishing the game under their label. The developer explained that although they loved the concept and talent of the potential game, some things did not go according to their expectations. They wished Kesler well in his future projects.

Lilith Ltd., on the other hand, confirmed on the "Allison Road" Facebook page that they mutually agreed with Team17 to end their collaboration on publishing the game. They shared that same statement that things pan out differently than expected since game development and publishing have several layers of complexity. They proceeded to thank everyone for their support.

Polygon noted that several aspects of "Allison Road" were influenced by the acclaimed teaser, "P.T." The horror game is set in a British townhouse. Kesler previously said that "P.T." was a revelation for him. He admired how the teaser introduced so much detail. He loved the very eerie atmosphere, the graphics and intimate experience. Kesler said that the game is a tribute to classic horror games and movies.

Lilith Ltd. launched 13 minutes of gameplay footage for "Allison Road" before. Kesler said that there is a lot more horror to expect than the house that was shown. He explained that everything will be heavily connected. They wanted to delve deeply into the family the safety of people's homes and intimacy as the main concepts of the game. The team also worked with in-game combat sequences, which will focus more on self-defense and try to maintain very realistic scenarios.

Horror games fans have been eagerly waiting for launch updates for "Allison Road," and will certainly be disappointed to learn that it has been canceled at the moment. It is still uncertain whether Lilith Ltd. will opt to return to crowdfunding to proceed with the project.
