When Sgt. Mike Dodds (Andy Karl) was killed in the "Law & Order: SVU" season 17 finale, everyone was shocked and understandably in tears.
Fans are so used to seeing Sgt. Mike Dodds in "Law & Order: SVU," so to realize that he is not going to be a part of "Law & Order: SVU" season 18 is definitely a hard pill to swallow.
And because of the shock factor during the "Law & Order: SVU" season 17 finale, many overlooked Rafael Barba's personal problem.
Rafael Barba received some death threats last season and according to Ecumenical News, "Law & Order: SVU" season 18 will continue this storyline.
As to the identity of the sender, there are a lot of people to consider. But for now, all we have to do is to wait for "Law & Order: SVU" season 18 to know who was angry enough to want Rafael Barba dead.
"Law & Order: SVU" season 17 finale presented a shocking twist by killing off Sgt. Mike Dodds. But even with the sad turn of event, Andy Karl accepted his character's fate.
"This it is for me," the actor told E! News. "I said goodbye this morning, to Mariska, as far as Sgt. Dodds... This character has really gained a whole bunch of knowledge and helped out so much with SVU."
"Then to have a tragedy ripped from the precinct will affect everyone's character," Andy Karl continued. "So really, my character will initially affect and move on."
"Law & Order: SVU" season 18 will return on September 21, Wednesday, at 9 p.m. EST.
