Shortly after its tremendous opening at the box office, director Joss Whedon revealed that approximately 45 minutes total had been cut from the film. Here's about a minutes worth, featuring some bonus dialogue between Mark Ruffalo's Dr. Banner and the security guard who found him amongst the rubble, after the Hulk dropped like a stone.
You can expect this, and more scenes, when "The Avengers" is released on DVD next month.
The home release of the film is set to feature 3 different versions: standard DVD, 2 disc Blu-Ray, and a 4 disc 3D Blu-Ray, for which the special features include:
- audio commentary by Joss Whedon
- gag reel
- deleted scenes including an alternate opening and extended scenes
- Soundgarden music video - "Live to Rise"
- 2 featurettes, "Assembling the Ultimate Team," and "A Visual Journey"

Also rumored is a 10 disc super set that includes all the individual character films before they assembled; both Iron Man movies, Thor, Captain America, and the Incredible Hulk.

Disney recently confirmed that the Joss Whedon's no doubt epic sequel is set to be released on May 1st, 2015. With Joss Whedon signing a 3-year exclusivity deal with Marvel, all of his creativity will come to a close come May 1st.
