Comic book legend Stan Lee has appeared in every single Marvel film. However, the "Spider-Man" writer has just confirmed that his favorite film appearance has nothing to do with comic books.
Well, actually it still does. At a recent appearance at the Denver Comic Con, Stan Lee admitted that his favorite film role is in Kevin Smith's 1995 movie "Mallrats."
The comedy dealt with stoners, screwballs and yes, obsessed comic book fans.
Stan Lee Proclaims Kevin Smith "Mallrats" Cameo As His Favorite Film Appearance
According to ComicBook, Stan Lee was asked by a fan about his favorite film appearance. "Gee, that's a hard one," Lee began before admitting, "I got a big kick out of 'Mallrats.'"
The audience immediately applauded the response. However, Stan Lee was not yet done. He went on to explain that he did not have a cameo in "Mallrats."
"I really had a role in the movie," Lee said proudly, continuing that playing a love guru in "Mallrats" led to possible complications.
"In the movie, I'm talking to the boy who was the lead, who was very unhappy because he was having trouble with his girlfriend," Lee said.
"I mentioned to him, 'I remember I once had a girlfriend and I lost her but I've never forgotten her, and I think about her all the time,' something like that," he continued.
That doesn't sound so bad, does it? Unfortunately, the "Mallrats" line almost caused trouble for Stan Lee and his wife Joan Lee.
"I went home, and my wife said to me, 'Now what is this about that girlfriend?'" Lee shared before concluding, "And I learned you have to be very careful about how you explain movies to your wife."
Stan Lee appeared as himself in "Mallrats." In the film, Lee meets Brodie (Jason Lee), who is a huge comic book fan obsessed with Marvel superhero genitalia.
It looks like Stan Lee will be working with Kevin Smith again soon. The comic book legend has been confirmed to appear in the highly anticipated sequel "Mallbrats," which will be made into a 10-episode TV series (via Consequence of Sound).
