It has been more than a year since Apple has come out with a MacBook Air successor despite word that the 2016 edition may have been the last of its kind. Apparently new rumors claim a new MacBook Air 2016 may be coming.
The word out is that the MacBook Air 2016 may be discontinued as Apple focuses on the MacBook Pro. But according to Macotakara, a Japanese publication, the Cupertino company will allegedly be releasing a 2016 version sometime this month.
Separate MacBook Air 2016 Event happening
The best stage for the MacBook Air 2016 to come out would have been at WWDC 2016 but that unfortunately did not happen. It is believed that Apple will be holding separate event for it, possibly alongside the new MacBook Pro.
The special press event could be held before August, 2016, the month that the report adds MacBook Air 2016 will be out at retailer shelves.
No major changes for MacBook Air 2016
Like Apple’s plans for the iPhone 7, it looks like the MacBook Air 2016 will follow the same plight. With the rumor mill mum on what the MacBook Air may carry, many are under the impression that there is hardly anything significant to look forward to for the next MacBook Air installment.
Right now, there is no indication of any improvement yet on the MacBook Air 2016. The last time that the notebook saw an upgrade was back in March, 2015. As detailed by Mac Rumors, that included a Broadwell processor, Thunderbolt 2, Intel HD graphics 6000 while the 13-inch model saw an 8 GB RAM upgrade and twice faster storage.
A key feature that could be something to look forward to is the processor it will be armed with. This has something to do with an Intel Skylake processor for the MacBook Air 2016, something that one of our own (Luis Vincent Gochoco) reported last week here on Game N Guide.
