Fable: The Journey Demo Release Date Revealed

Microsoft announced that the Fable: The Journey demo launches on Sept. 17 worldwide. The demo will be available for players to preview the game weeks before Fable: The Journey is released in stores on Oct. 9.

Fable: The Journey is the fifth game in the Fable series developed by Lionhead Studios and published by Microsoft Studios for Xbox 360. This will be the first exclusive Fable title for the Kinect. The game is a standalone title and departs from the traditional strictly role-playing elements of the series.

The Journey is a first-person game that has players use Kinect to manipulate magic in order to defeat enemies, if early gameplay demonstration offers any indication; the game appears to be a motion controlled rail shooter.

Players will use their hands to perform spells, and brandish shields, spears and hammers in order to defeat enemies. According to interview with Peter Molyneux, Lionhead Studios' Creative Director, the game offers no control tutorials and beckons players to explore the control system as they play. Some players may never learn all the aspects of the control system.

Arguably to this point in the Kinect existence, there has been not been a must own title for the device. Fable: The Journey is definitely the first title for the Kinect that has sparks a bit of intrigue. If the game can combine an intricate and well thought-out narrative with fun and innovative controls, Microsoft may finally have a huge hit for the Kinect.

A new video documentary was also released showing scenery of Albion and explaining some of the game's back story involving Theresa and the Spire.
