Rumor mill is spreading that Ian Somerhalder is now confirmed to make a return in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8. According to reports Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) will be able to save Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) after the latter got trapped inside the vault.

Sources have claimed that both Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore will be seeing each other again in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 after a very long time. However, Elena Gilbert has to wake up first in order to save Damon Salvatore.

Reports have it that only Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) and Caroline Forbes (Candice King) are the ones who could save Damon Salvatore and Enzo St John (Michael Malarkey). Movie Pilot  has suggested that Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) will need to sacrifice herself so the much-awaited Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert reunion will take place in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8.
