"ReCore" was announced last year at E3 2015 during the Microsoft press conference. The game had a couple of big names attached to it, namely Megaman creator Keiji Inafune, and Armature Studios, composed of former "Metroid Prime" developers, both of which were enough to incite quite a bit of excitement. Since then, details about the game have remained mostly foggy -- until now.
At Microsoft's E3 2016 press con, "ReCore" made a triumphant return, this time with a gameplay trailer in tow. The trailer introduces the girl from the cinematic trailer as Joule, and shows off some of her abilities through gameplay, like as grappling onto the core of an enemy robot and pulling it out. She also seems to have jets in her boots, allowing her to dash around at high speed.
The "ReCore" trailer also shows more of the robot "dog" that follows Joule around, named here as Mack and described as an "Explorer," and who can dash around as well to help defeat hostile robots. More companions were shown as well, including Seth the "Escape Artist," a spider-like robot with the ability to climb objects, and Duncan the "Heavy Hitter," the big guy of the bunch, who walks with a powerful gorilla-like gait and seems to have some kind of area-of-effect incendiary attack, as well as much heavier weapons than the others.
The trailer goes on to show a little more gameplay, including some platforming segments and another two companions who weren't named in the trailer. Recore was originally set to be released this spring, but Microsoft announced that the game would be delayed in order to "provide the best experience to our fans." The game is now set to be released for Xbox One and Windows 10 simultaneously on September 13 in North America, and September 16 in Europe.
