A few leaks from “Dead Rising 4” surfaced online recently, revealing a variety of strange weapons. Fans of the game also started wondering whether Frank West would return for another zombie adventure.
“Dead Rising 4” is currently in the works at Capcom Vancouver. More details about the upcoming game will be showcased at E3 2016 in June. Capcom Vancouver collaborated with Epic Games, which can mean that the new title will run on the Unreal Engine 4. “Dead Rising 3” launched in 2013, and was exclusive to Xbox One. There are talks that the next game will be a full remake of the first title, although there will be some add-ons like four-player co-op play and online features.
Initial images posted by ThisGenGaming presented a “Dead Rising 4” character who looked very much like Frank West from the previous installments. An insider also stated that the game will have a Christmas setting.
Kotaku noted that the game may be set in Willamette, Colorado. The environment will most likely have a lot of similarities with the original game. The game will arrive as a Windows Store exclusive and will be playable on Windows 10 PC and Xbox One. Updates revealed that Frank West will indeed be returning in “Dead Rising 4” as the main protagonist. The four-player co-op allows three other players to join the action, playing old characters like Annie, Chuck and Nick.
GameSpot noted that the images in “Dead Rising 4” showed the main character fighting zombies on a snow-covered street. There were Christmas lights hung on trees, confirming the holiday setting. The character was also shown wearing a power suit and wielding a giant hammer.
Other photos showed the hero carrying a bat and a chainsaw. Based on one gif, the power suit most likely provides the character with extraordinary strength, allowing it to lift huge amounts of weight. The image featured the protagonist lifting a zombie up easily then thrashing it around to fend off the others.
“Dead Rising 4” is reportedly part of “Project Helix,” which is an attempt by Microsoft to launch all flagship titles across PC and console. In May 2016, Capcom announced that it will release three unannounced games before April 2017. They also expect one of the titles to sell 4 million copies, hinting that it may stem from a popular franchise.
Microsoft will hold a press conference at E3 2016, which is said to feature a death theme. “Dead Rising 4” and “State of Decay 2” will be detailed at the event.
