Charlize Theron is expected to portray the new villain role in “Fast & Furious 8” due to debut next year, portraying the bad girl named “Cipher."
This early, the belief is that Theron will be associated with “Deckard Shaw” (Jason Statham) as they will likely try to get back at Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and company. While no script has been revealed, the obvious is that “Cipher” will find a way to break “Shaw” from the high security prison and do something dastardly.
The rest of that remains to be seen but a new twist has been added to the mix by Brian Tyler via EW.
"It's like a siren kind of thing," he said. "There's no question the havoc and villainy she brings [but] you're attracted to it. There's something where you can kind of see yourself in this villain that makes it more disturbing and, at the same time, more interesting.
With that said, one get the feeling that Theron could carry a persona that may solicit the sympathy of viewers which sums up to why her character has been dubbed a "sympathetic villain."
The way it works is that while “Cipher” will be up to no good, Theron’s role will carry a bit of justification which should be pretty interesting. Pairing that with the ‘hate’ seems a bit complicated though it somehow brings up that potential turncoat scenario rumored when Theron’s name was revealed as the new cast member.
So the question now is how will “Fast & Furious 8” flow and how will that ‘sympathetic character’ twist come in? Will it end there or will we see Theron as a regular cast member like the rest who have helped the Toretto gang grow?
More rumors tied up to the character of Theron and the movie should come out in the coming months before “Fast & Furious 8” hits the big screen on April, 2017 so stay tuned!
