‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Latest News. Air Date & Rumors: Lex Luthor Sister Among New Characters Appearing

Season 2 of “Supergirl” is a show that many are eagerly awaiting as more plots and twists await viewers who followed it the previous season. A lot of new characters and storylines are expected and right now one may be tied up to “Kara Zor-El’s (Melissa Benoist) cousin (“Superman”).

That is with reference of course to Lex Luthor though the character appearing is reportedly “Lena Luthor." The only thing that comes to mind is that “Lena” will be out to make “Supergirl’s” live as inconvenient as possible. Her character is described below courtesy of TVLine.

“Lena Luthor, who will be in the 25-35 year old range, arrives in town to get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother. She’s described as sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants. But what does she want? That remains unclear.”

Right now, the only thing clear is that “Lena” will most likely play villain. Per the comic books, “Lex’s” sister has different origins. That include being a person armed with psychic powers (“pre-crisis” era) and another that shows how “Lena” was killed by their abusive foster parents.

There is also an angle where (through the help of time-travel) that “Lena” aligns with another “Superman” foe (Brainiac). With “Supergirl” now under the wing of CW, “time travel” is not that new especially if one ties it up with the “Flash” which is expected to have crossovers with “Supergirl” and probably other superhero-themed shows (i.e. “Arrow” and “Legends of Tomorrow”).

Right now, there is no word on who will play the part. Whoever it may be, “Lena” will join other names such as “The Doctor," a female head of “Project Cadmus," a veteran newsman named “Snapper Carr”, and a lesbian detective named “Maggie."

Those and a lot more are in store for “Supergirl” Season 2 which returns this Fall.
