Microsoft is all set to unveil its Xbox One Summer update and the significant feature included is “Cortana." Cortana support for the Xbox One should be something worth checking out as the company tries to jack up its fortunes in the niche where only Valve’s steam service has gained ground.
The coming of Cortana for the Xbox One opens up a lot of new possibilities, including the one involving universal headset support for voice commands. Though critics believe that this is a feature that may not be immediately necessary, why complain?
The main thing here is that Microsoft is looking to Cortana to make needed improvements in an effort to push up the features that the Xbox One has to offer. With Cortana, gamers can use the same ploy the voice assistant offered on Windows 10 PC and mobile operating niches, an interesting twist that takes some load off a gamer’s palms.
While Cortana can bring a new dimension to the Xbox One, in focus is the interface it brings with the actual game console. A number of functionalities are expected to be enabled such as Cortana recognizing which game a person wants to call. Aside from that, Xbox Live parties can be launched – all through a simple voice command.
In-game, instances such as game replays of a player’s best performance the last time around. That should come in handy as far as prepping better in the event that a player finds himself in the same game scenario.
While the inclusion of Cortana was meant to improve the game, many are viewing it as an indirect way of integrating the PC to the Xbox One. With that in mind, it may not be surprising to see a lot of famed PC game titles appearing on the Xbox soon, hopefully with smoother graphics and optimal performance.
The move is seen as a small step for Microsoft though it does offer variety as far as Xbox One gamers are concerned. The Xbox summer update, like the New Xbox One Experience update before, will allow players to opt-in to test the new features with an 'Xbox Preview'.
