Activision has something exciting for all Skylanders fans. The company will soon introduce the new "Skylnders Imaginators," a game version were players are given a free hand to create the heroes they want.
In the "Skylanders Imaginators," the game showcases the ability of players to customize their very own heroes according to Engadget. The new game offers this possibility via an extensive array of body parts, weapons and gears.
Previous "Skylanders" games were one hundred percent toys-to-life type games. These focused on the collection of real life hero figurines to be "transported" into the game via a portal, reports The Verge. The concept worked for "Skylanders," with the franchise bringing in around $3 billion in sales since its debut in 2011. Later game versions then added new elements, gameplay, heroes as well as the physical toy counterparts needed to activate them in the game.
The "Skylanders Imaginators," however, is a deviation from that. This time, players can create the perfect hero that they can imagine. Players will no longer be limited to heroes that the developers have created for them hence, the "Imaginators" description of this new game.
Players can change their hero's appearance if so desired. As they progress further into the game, new body parts as well as gears and weapons will be unlocked, making further customizations possible.
However, players who just want to use the heroes contained in the physical toys can still use them in the new "Skylanders Imaginators." The new game still supports over 300 of these heroes or characters that can also be used in previous game versions.
For players who want to collect physical toys for their heroes, there is actually a physical element to the heroes created in "Skylander Imaginators." However, they are not as attractive as the toys purchased in previous games. The heroes players create in the game can be saved to creation crystals, making them essentially just storage devices for heroes.
"Skylanders Imaginators" release date is slated this coming October 16, 2016. In will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Wii U but no mobile version of the game is available at the moment.
