Nintendo NX has definitely lived up to its name as the "mysterious console." After the existence of the Nintendo NX was brought up in March 2015, nothing was really said about the system except that it will finally be released in March 2017. Adding to the hype is the 2017 release of the highly-anticipated latest version of the "Legend of Zelda" game.
“Nintendo has confirmed that they will be introducing a new console in early 2017,” executive vice president of strategic business and brand development Mike Hogan said.
He further added that if it performs half of the level of the Wii, it would generate 7.5 billion units of incremental sales over the same time frame, as reported by Nintendo Insider.
Design N Trend cited that Nintendo may have intentionally moved the release date of the "Legend of Zelda" game, to give more hype to the Nintendo NX and the Nintendo Wii U as well, considering the fact that the much-awaited "Legend of Zelda" will be available for both platforms.

There have been speculations that upcoming Nintendo NX will be using cartridges and will discontinue the optical disc drive. Money-Link reported that Macronix, a memory manufacturer, is looking forward for an increased order of ROM chips from the Japanese multinational consumer electronics and software company.
This alleged bulk order coincides with the upcoming release of the Nintendo NX, giving the impression that Nintendo will be using cartridges for the Nintendo NX instead of discs.

"The Rise: Race the Future" - Project Announcement teaser, which was released in May 31, revealed that the game is going to be playable on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo NX. The short clip also noted that "The Rise: Race the Future" game will release in the winter of 2016.
