Bioshock Infinite Studio Loses Personnel Before the Games Release

Bioshock Infinite has lost two members of its development team, Director of Product Development Tim Gerritsen and Art Director Nate Wells have each left the studio, according to a report by Gamasutra and later confirmed by Gerritsen's LinkedIn profile.

Gerritsen joined Irrational in 2008 overseeing the product development division of the company, and directly managed the content creators for BioShock Infinite, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Wells was a 13-year veteran of the studio. BioShock Art Director Scott Sinclair will replace Wells, according to Creative Director Ken Levine's Twitter account.

"Scott Sinclair, art director of Bio1, back in the art director's chair for Infinite to bring it home," Levine tweeted. "Can't wait to show you what's cooking."

Bioshock Infinite was first announced in late 2010, but was delayed and given a new release date of February 26, 2013. No information is available on if their departures will cause any further delays for the game. BioShock Infinite was a huge hit at E3 in 2011, winning more than 75 awards including best of show.

The Bioshock series games are survival horror first-person shooters with role-playing game customization and stealth elements. The games take place in an underwater city called Rapture. The dystopian city was envisioned as a utopia for the cultural and scientific elite to avoid the oppression of government and religion. The BioShock franchise has sold more than 9 million units worldwide

Bioshock Infinite is anticipated to release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, and later on the Wii U.
