Ben Affleck in Talks to Direct Justice League Movie

According to Variety, none other than the Daredevil himself, Ben Affleck, has an eye on directing the "Justice League" movie. While most see Ben Affleck more as an actor, he's made waves as a director recently for both "Gone Baby Gone," and "The Town." And to date, he's been the only director so far to read Will Beal's "Justice League" script.

The last person considered to take on directing DC's super squad was "Dark Knight Rises" director Christopher Nolan, who ultimately decided against the project, saying, "We've had our say on the character [Batman]...I've got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any 'Justice League' project....We're finished with all we're doing with Batman. This is the end of our take on this character."

Progress on a League movie has been slow. Right around the time of the writer's strike in 2008, George Miller was at the helm of a Justice League script, featuring the likes of (according to aintitcoolnews.com) Adam Brody as The Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, D.J. Cotrona as the proverbial man of steel, rapper Common as Green Lantern (probably not Kyle Rayner), Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Hugh Keays as Martian Manhunter, and Armie Hammer to play the Dark Knight.

But In January 2008, Warner Bros. announced the film was on indefinite hold, allowing options to lapse for the cast. The studio felt the script needed perfecting, which was impossible because of the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike.

Despite what critics have said about Affleck's last foray into comic book movies, he shouldn't be counted out just yet, especially if he brings in writer pal and comics afficionado Kevin Smith, whose previous DC credits include writing comics for two of the Justice League's own, Batman and Green Arrow.

It remains to be seen if Affleck will go forward with the job. He was still the bomb in "Phantoms."
