Sean Murray finally provided a No Man's Sky update after he was reportedly handed death threats. The news arrived after it was announced that the space exploration game's supposed release date was moved from June to August 2016.
Since the game was first introduced at Spike VGX 2013, fans have been excited about a No Man's Sky update. Fans were obviously disappointed when Hello Games shared that they will push back the release date on Aug. 9, 2016. A number of fans apparently resorted to drastic measures to get some more details about the upcoming game by sending Murray death threats.
The Hello Games creator and founder thanked the ones who sent the threats on Twitter and stated that they are already finalizing codes. Murray finally provided a No Man's Sky update that may appease eager gamers.
Murray shared that he has received a lot of death threats since the last No Man's Sky update stated that the official release date would be delayed. However, he kept his sense of humor in dealing with the threats. He mentioned that Hello Games currently looks like the setting from the film "Home Alone." He joked that he has set traps throughout the studio for protection.
GameRant wrote that it is quite strange that even though the No Man's Sky update announced that the game will only be late by two months, fans are already reacting in severe ways. Game developers can only imagine the repercussions if the title would be late for several months or worse, cancelled. Short game delays should generally be deemed well, since game developers use the extra time to polish the content and provide a better gaming experience for players.
Aside from the recent No Man's Sky update, there have also been death threats against creators for failing to meet fan expectations. Thousands of developers and modders are being harassed and threatened by members of the gaming community for various reasons, such as the studio closing down or being sold to another entity, game content that does not include requested features and lack of DLC content, among others.
On the other hand, it has been two years since the space exploration open-world sandbox was introduced, so it has actually been already quite a whilesince a positive No Man's Sky update came. When they discovered that the release date would be postponed, some clearly lost their patience and resorted to death threats.
A No Man's Sky update is expected to arrive soon, before its official launch on Aug. 9, 2016 on PC and PlayStation 4.
