Samsung has been strongly rumored to be offering a foldable smart phone next year and the continuous influx of patents and rumors continue to build the hype. The Samsung foldable phone is believed to be among the five flagships the Korean company plans to unveil in 2017, something that comes as a surprise.
The rumored plans of five Samsung flagships is something new though the company has somehow been jacking up the number of smartphones offered in the market. Regardless, one of the five flagships is widely believed to be the Samsung foldable phone variant, and new patents shed more possible features it may come with.
New graphics from Patentlymobile.com show a bit on things to expect from the rumored Samsung foldable phone. That includes a port that would allow it to be charged even in a folded state as well as the possible presence of a fingerprint or iris scanner.
For those who are unaware, iris scanners are widely believed to be included in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 6, patents of which were filed in November of last year.
Will this be the Samsung Galaxy X?
The planned Samsung foldable phone is codenamed “Project Valley” or may be known as the Samsung Galaxy X. This Samsung variant will feature a bendable 4K display that should make it a flexible and portable device that users can easily slide down their pockets.
So what are the chances that Samsung will indeed release these foldable phones? A previous report via ETnews.com will likely back up that claim, seeing how Samsung has resorted to mass produce foldable displays by the end of 2016.
Per rumors, the Samsung foldable smartphone will measure about 5-inches when folded but will spread to as much as 7-inches that could see it transform into a phablet. Inside, there is a possibility that the Samsung foldable smartphone will bank on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 or 820 SoC and 3 GB of RAM.
