HP has a new powerful gaming laptop series called the "Omen," which boasts of powerful specifications and excellent performance. The HP Omen gaming laptops also offer great prices and good portability.
The HP Omen PCs will become available on July 10, arriving in a wide array of competitive prices to suit each type of gamer.
ArsTechnica noted that the model that costs $899.99 features a 15.6-inch screen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a quad-core Skylake Core i7-6700HQ processor, 8GB of RAM, 2GB of dedicated memory, a 1TB 7200 rpm hard drive and the Nvidia GTX 950M GPU. The laptop weighs 4.6lbs.
Adding more will upgrade the system with a GTX 960M graphics card with 4GB dedicated memory, 16GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD together with the spinning disk. All units include a 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two USB 3 ports, a full-size HDMI output and wired gigabit Ethernet. The keyboards are lighted and showcase the 15-inch form factor, which means that it has a full number pad on the right side.
The model that costs $1,029.99 features a 17.3-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 IPS It also has the quad-core Skylake Core i7-6700HQ processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, a 4GB dedicated memory, a 1TB hard drive and the Nvidia GTX 960M GPU. The networking and connectivity options are the same as the smaller unit but includes an integrated DVD burner. Upgrades include a 512GB PCIe SSD, a GTX 965M GPU, a 4K screen and 16GB of RAM.
The gaming laptops feature powerful specifications, which are expected to run games with high system requirements in the next few years. The HP Omen laptops are competitively priced, have decent battery life at 4 to 6 hours, and very comfortable to play with, particularly because of the heat vents that are positioned towards the back and not downwards. The keyboard and touchpad are also decent, although some noted that without the red keyboard lights, the laptops look rather ordinary.
Engadget revealed that in August 2016, HP will launch an Omen gaming desktop. The specifications include a Core i7-6700K processor with enabled overclocking. A graphics card that can go up to an Nvidia GTX 1080 Founder Edition or AMD Radeon R9 390X.
The unit includes a 32-inch 2560x1440 Omen display with FreeSync support. The PC can have up to 32GB of RAM and 512GB SSD, with optional liquid cooling. The system is expected to support the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and other state-of-the-art technologies, and more. More updates and details on the HP Omen laptops and PC are expected soon.
