Less then a year after Nintendo dropped down the Nintendo 2DS price, it was revealed that the console is getting yet another price cut. The Nintendo 2DS was originally sold for $130, then it dropped to $100, and now you can own your very own Nintendo 2DS for only $79.99! But is it worth it?
Nintendo 2DS gets another price drop
If you have been missing out on Nintendo's latest and greatest handheld games, the multinational consumer electronics and software company released a trailer to announce a $20 price cut for the Nintendo 2DS system, dropping it down to $79.99, Engadget reports. The Nintendo 2DS price officially dropped on May 20th.
What's the difference of Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS?
Obviously, the Nintendo 2DS is a lot different looking than the Nintendo 3DS. There's no clamshell, you can't snap a shot, and as the name would suggest, there is no 3D on board. The control stick feels the same as the Nintendo 3DS, with a nice soft touch to it and the bumpers are sturdy.
Since you can't close the Nintendo 2DS, there's a sleep switch on the bottom right that will let you put your Nintendo 2DS to bed without shutting it off. This feature is actually useful especially for kids, for it doesn't have a hinge which eventually gets loose when opened and closed numerous times.
Is it worth to buy a Nintendo 2DS?
Don't be fooled by the "2DS" name, Nintendo 2DS plays nearly every game that works on the regular Nintendo 3DS, just in 2D instead of 3D. This is actually a good thing because over the years the library of Nintendo 3DS games has become quite impressive, and if you get bored of those the Nintendo 2DS is also compatible with all the old Nintendo 3DS games.
The Nintendo 2DS is an interesting device, some gamers may have been skeptical thinking who would want this thing if they can have a Nintendo 3DS? Nintendo 2DS is a budget-friendly console which is a perfect alternative for a Nintendo 3DS, making it a more affordable option if you want to purchase it as a present or for yourself.
