New Games Releases 2012: Sleeping Dogs, Darksiders 2, Super Mario Bros. 2 to Hit Shelves in August

If you're already bored with the games you've been playing this summer, and are looking for something new then here are some single-player games that will be hitting the markets this August:

Sleeping Dogs - This open world crime drama video game is a new game from United Front Games and Square Enix  London will hit the markets on Aug. 14. The game is an open-world environment, which allows users to move freely like the ones in Skyrim and GTA. It is an over-the-shoulder third person game play. It has both action elements and role-playing. Wei Shen, a Chinese-American police officer is the protagonist, and players have to control him. He goes undercover and infiltrates into Traids. Players can jump, run, climb or swim. There are a variety of weapons, martial arts moves, and plenty of vehicles. The action is similar to GTA and a open-world game player will like it.

Darksiders 2Vigil Games developed Darksiders 2, the action-adventure, role-playing game. It's a sequel to a Darksiders published by THQ, and takes place in the same time period as the first. But this special version, instead of War, players will be controlling the Horseman Death. Newer weapons with 12 different armour pieces and bigger maps are confirmed by THQ. The game releases on Aug.14 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 - Specifically designed for the Nintendo 3DS platform, by Nintendo; this is a sequel to New Super Mario Bros. released in 2006, which is also a side scrolling platform video game. The game continues the game play from its previous game as Mario sets to rescue Princess Peach from the hands of Bowser and the Koopalings. Power ups make a comeback, letting Mario tail whip enemies or fly in air for a stipulated time. The game will feature Coin Rush mode where players get three new levels to collect coins with one life. It's set to be released on Aug. 17 for Nintendo 3DS.
