Ubisoft Issues Patch to Fix UPlay's Security Issue

About 9 hours after news broke that hackers could potentially get in gain remote access to users' computers via a backdoor through a Uplay plug-in, we now have a patch fixing the problem from the all seeing eye of Ubisfot. From the Ubisoft website, Ubisoft has issued a statement regarding the patch, as well as how to install it:

"We have made a forced patch to correct the flaw in the browser plug-in for the Uplay PC application that was brought to our attention earlier today. We recommend that all Uplay users update their Uplay PC application without a Web browser open. This will allow the plug-in to update correctly. An updated version of the Uplay PC installer with the patch also is available from Uplay.com. Ubisoft takes security issues very seriously, and we will continue to monitor all reports of vulnerabilities within our software and take swift action to resolve such issues."

As of this time, it seems as though no one managed to gain access to any computer in an illicit manner (thankfully), and this patch will hopefully keep it that way. With the patch fixed, Ubisoft can go back to work on Assassin's Creed 3, and we can go back to gaming...
