Apple suppliers in Taiwan are reportedly boosting its hiring efforts in preparation for the iPhone 7. Companies were acquiring more staff to get ready to build the latest Apple smartphone series.
Foxconn Zhengzhou is hiring ordinary workers, ages 18 to 40 years old, with an average monthly salary of $581. An ad encouraged workers to apply immediately, although it may take some time for them to be accommodated due to the high number of current applicants. Work also begins immediately.
Another Apple supplier, Pegatron, is also adding more workers to build the new iPhone 7.
According to CNBC, the two suppliers started recruiting one month earlier compared to previous years to prepare for the new iPhones. Foxconn also began recruiting on the mainland in May, which is the first time in two years.
The design of the upcoming Apple iPhone 7 is said to be more complex compared to its predecessors, which explains why suppliers have to begin work earlier than before. More training was required of the assembling staff to build the new model. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus launched in September 2015. The iPhone 7 is expected to release in two versions, including a higher-end model called the iPhone Pro. The new Apple smartphone will likely launch in September 2016.
9to5Mac noted that the iPhone 7 may arrive in two sizes – 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. Geeky Gadgets wrote that the 4.7-inch version will be built by Foxconn and Pegatron, while the 5.5-inch version will be made by Foxconn and Wistron. The design may be quite similar to the iPhone 6 series, although the antenna lines may be adjusted. A major iPhone revamp will not be due until 2017, according to KGI.
The more complex design may refer to new components and hardware, such as the A10 SoC processor and graphics, 3GB of RAM, the next-generation LTE chip, a dual-camera system rumored to be exclusive to the 5.5-inch version only. There are talks that the new iPhone 7 will eliminate the headphone jack and depend on Bluetooth or Lightning accessories for audio output. The device is also said to be the first iPhone to be completely waterproof and dustproof. Apple has yet to confirm the components and chassis of the iPhone 7.
Apple is expected to feature the initial components of the iPhone 7 at WWDC in June 2016. More updates and details are expected soon.
