"Titanfall 2," Respawn Entertainment's first-person shooter, is set to arrive for the PS4, Xbox One and PC this year. Publisher Electronic Arts is yet to confirm a specific release date, but if reports are to be believed, prospects can expect the game's arrival in the year's fourth quarter across platforms.
Followers would remember that EA CFO Blake Jorgensen previously told investors to "assume" that the title is out during the second half of its current financial year, VideoGamer.com says. That being said, anticipating players can look forward to a date sometime from the month of October.
In the meantime, "Titanfall" creators just revealed that they are working on a new "Star Wars" game. The announcement comes from EA Studios' executive vice president, Patrick Söderlund, "EA and the talented team at Respawn Entertainment have expanded our relationship to include the development of an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the 'Star Wars' universe."
According to the exec, this puts Respawn in line with other studios working on "Star Wars" projects, which include Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare and Motive, among others. The studio, as noted by GameSpot, is founded by "Call of Duty" veterans Vince Zampella and Jason West.
The team working with the new "Star Wars" game is led by Stig Asmussen, "God of War III" game director, Gamepur points. In a blog post, Asmussen expressed his joy over the task, "I have been playing 'Star Wars' games my whole life, now I get to make a 'Star Wars' game... The entire company erupted in cheers when it was announced that this would be our next endeavor." Sounds like the Force, indeed, is in the air.
In the meantime, "Titanfall 2" is not yet available to preorder, but prospects can expect the worldwide gameplay reveal on June 12. According to PlayStationLifeStyle.net, this will likely be during EA's press conference at 1pm PT/4pm ET.
