Unlike what many gamers think, DC Universe Online is still alive five years after its initial release. The awesome PlayStation and PC superhero MMO made by the developer formerly known as Sony Online Entertainment has made its way to PS3, PS4, PC and now to a Microsoft Console. Yes, this game comes free-to-play on Xbox one this spring.
The game is pretty much alive, but time has taken its toll and made the game a bit less active. Daydreak Game Company's MMO put in an incredible twist to the comic version of the DC Universe. Not only that, you can play for free. World of Warcraft may have gotten away with charging gamers $15 per month, but not DC Universe Online, this game took the free-to-play route to keep the game active. Right now, the player count just achieved 100,000 when it made its transition to a FREE game. There should be another increase in player activity when the game is finally available on a Microsoft console this spring.
The gossip about DC Universe Online being available to Xbox One started spreading last year. That is when the developers tweeted about their interest in a Microsoft port. Fortunately, this time around, it is finally confirmed and this time we are sure the game will arrive to Xbox one in 2016. The developer has also confirmed the project in twitter, but didn't release any specific details about the game. They kept the free-to-play scheme and will surely add more servers to the game specifically for Xbox one players.
The game is free-to-play, however, it is interesting to see if the publisher offers any bonuses to play on Xbox One, maybe in the form of unique in-game items or skins. The game is old but there are many players still interested and haven't played it before. The developers are very convinced that some money will be made on the Microsoft console and are looking forward to seeing what kind of special events or promotions they can offer to win gamers who are hesitant to play the game.
