The free to play (F2P) RPG Star Wars: Uprising which was made available on both the iOS and Android platform a couple of months ago was in preparation of the film's showing this coming December, but will carry a different storyline.
The game's developer also confirmed that the mobile game series of the upcoming film will be different from the film which will be directed by J.J. Abrams. Daniel Erickson said that when you're playing a movie game, you already know what's going to happen and they wanted to carve it out.
Star Wars: Uprising is set in space and time not long before the death of Emperor Palpatine, in a region of the space named the Anoat Sector. Players will have to create their own character and help an uprising against the Emperor's remaining forces in the region.
Some of the game's mission will take the character to the iconic regions of Hoth and the Cloud City where Luke Skywalker and the gang went during the first trilogy of the iconic Star Wars film. There are new regions that offer new storyline and adventure.
The gameplay of Uprising is close to Diablo where the character will start from scratch and later on will improve based on level ups and new weapons and gears. Uprising can be played cooperatively with friends, and the producers promised to provide continuous updates such as story missions and character upgrades.
Star Wars: Uprising was developed by Kabam RPG, the same group who brought the Spirit Lord RPG. According to Erickson, Uprising was heavily focused on the movie itself where heavy dialogues and voice acting will be present. In addition, the game itself is so massive in which the first chapter offers 40 different story missions for the gamer's character.
The next Star Wars flick will take off from where Return of the Jedi left off and will feature recurring characters like Hans Solo and Chewbacca.
