Dark Souls 3 Director Confirms Reoccurence of Feature from Its Predecessors, To Be Released in 2016

Dark Souls 3's director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that the upcoming game will have the elements of the first two games. One feature that will be implemented on the Dark Souls 3, from its older brothers, is the Fast Travel ability right at the start of the game. Also, the Weapon Durability feature will also be present, but Miyazaki cited that he is looking to have a middle ground to keep the Dark Souls 3 a little bit distinct from the previous series.

In an interview, Miyazaki confirmed that sole reason why he wanted to make a mid between the first and second Dark Souls game, is that he thinks the Dark Souls 2's weapons are very easy to break, which is intentional to encourage players to try other weapons, while the first Dark Souls' weapons were somewhat unbreakable.

Another gameplay that Miyazaki has cleared out would be the ability of the characters to attack right away when they are coming from the Hidden Walls. He said that the logic behind it was to put in the factor of coincidence during a fight, to make it more realistic. Miyazaki also said that he wanted to provide the element of surprise for such events, which might lead into something good or something bad. Dark Souls 3 was developed by FromSoftware and will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

The development of the game came in the early stage of 2013 prior to the release of the Dark Souls II. Dark Souls 3 was developed alongside Bloodborne but was handled by two separate development teams. Dark Souls 3 is due to be out on the early part of the 2016 across multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Miyazaki did not also confirm if the game will be available for the iOS platform or the late generation consoles.
