Nintendo Club Europe Offers Commemorative Goodbye Coin Before Service Shutsdown On September 30

The Nintendo Club in Europe had a final token to offer before it bids goodbye for good, and fittingly the item is called the Goodbye Coin. The commemorative coin comes with a drawstring pouch with a Japanese print which literally translates into the word thanks.

On the face of the coin itself, one side of it features Mario and Luigi waving goodbye with the Japanese words thank you, while the other side will have the Club Nintendo's logo. The coin will be silver plated and is about 40mm in diameter and 3mm thick.

The Goodbye Coin can be purchased at 2000 stars, same as the digital copy of the Super Mario World or Super Mario Kart games. It will be available, in the EU region, until the end of September, the final day of the Nintendo Club Europe.

Earlier this year, Nintendo has formally announced the closing down of their rewards system, the Nintendo Club. The loyalty club debuted in 2007 and has been providing free gifts to Nintendo DS, Wii, 3DS, and Wii U owners.

According to the formal statement issued by Nintendo, the iconic console game manufacturer is looking to create a new rewards program, which is expected to be launched formally next year. There were no further details given by Nintendo, to the main reason why they decided to tear down the Nintendo Club.

In addition, Nintendo promised their loyal followers, that anyone who will be signing up for their upcoming new rewards program will receive a Flipnote Studio 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. The game console giant also pointed out that all existing Club Nintendo members should spend their remaining Stars because it will not be carried over in the next rewards program.

The Nintendo Club has halted giving points since April and has been influencing their members to spend their active stars with the club's new items which can be found inside the Stars Catalogue.
