Minecraft: Story Mode Review, Offers Tons Of Promise

Minecraft: Story Mode is set to be released by the tail end of the year, and so far, the game reviews have been impressive. The demo of the game was previewed at the Pax, and the snippet showed was just the first of five parts.

The principle of the story is basically from the regular Minecraft game, and this particular series will driven by narration. Gamers will play the game's lead character, Jesse, which is now customizable, on a quest with his friends in pursuit of the fourth member of the Order of the Stone.

Telltale games, the company behind the blockbuster The Walking Dead game series, will produce the game. That being said, it is expected that the newest Minecraft game will be patterned with Telltale game's style of delivery.

Like the other Telltale-produced games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be interactive and players will drive the action and outcome of the game through decision making. A concrete example of the gameplay is when Jesse's pet Reuben, which happens to be a pig, has run away to the woods. Jesse will eventually run after his pet and in the process, he will interact with objects in the wood which will give him clues and instructions to Reuben's whereabouts. The catch is, if the player will misses some of the instructions, Jesse will end up dead or will go deeper into the forest, so paying attention is very vital.

Reviewers are very thrilled to see how the simple cube game developed into a quasi-RPG game, and most of them are positive that the game will have a great reception once it is formally dropped. Although there were no confirmation on the final release date of the game, Telltale has confirmed that the Minecraft: Story Mode will be released on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and will also be available on iOS and Android compatible devices.
