The PlayStation TV was arguably the most unpopular venture the consumer electronics giant has since its conception, somewhat similar to PS Vita, but with a longer list of warnings.
To begin with, the PlayStation TV has no screen or controls. Instead, it has an HDMI port you can connect with a TV and a DualShock 3 for input.
On top of these miserable things, it needs the expensive Sony memory card, to keep your progress saved and intact in case you are playing something and it will not run without it.
Another thing about the PlayStation TV would be the games it can support, which are basically not that much, not to mention the prices at which they were launched. $100 a piece is a bit absurd.
For the benefit of those who are not aware of the PlayStation TV device, it is a small set top box based on Sony's current portable gaming device; well you guessed it right the PS Vita.
The PlayStation TV device is something like a game console, which allows you to play compatible PS Vita, the century old PS One, and some PSP games, through a television set.
Of course, with its ridiculous price and game offerings, it didn't perform the way Sony expected it to, regardless of the improved game support.
In order to make it profitable, Sony thought to drop its price from $100 to $37.49 (on Amazon) and $19.99 on the Sony Store.
That is a very reasonable price, you might think, but in order to enjoy the device, you need to also purchase a memory card, a controller or controllers, and games to play. Again, you might contemplate that it is still pricey considering the things you need to get aside from the device itself.
Sony's desperation, to sell the device, decided to include everything in the package; the PlayStation TV, a DualShock 3 controller, an 8GB memory card, and a Lego Movie game, for only $39.99.
That being said, regardless of how crappy the device might be, the offer is a total bargain and the company hopes to pick up sales, well hopefully.
