MMORPG game giants Netmarble Games and NCsoft will once again team up to produce a mobile version fantasy of Lineage II, currently coined Project S.
Netmarble revealed the partnership and the news at the 1st Netmarble Together with Press (NTP) in Korea last August 15 and confirmed that they are planning to formally launch the mobile version of the fantasy MMORPG Lineage II by 2016.
In the event, the game producer also pointed out that Project S will get all the classical feature which includes the gameplay, combat system, and game world of the PC version.
Netmarble also laid out the approach that they will be taking in order to keep the classic feature of the IP Lineage 2. According to the game giant, together with NCsoft, they are looking at the possibility to use the optimization scheme approach for the mobile version.
A concrete example of the approach is to cross-platform the two versions so players can use the points they earned from the mobile version to the PC version.
Lineage II is a prequel to the massively successful 2003 game, which reshaped the entire MMORPG gameplay when it was introduced.
Netmarble is a Korean based games developer, publisher, and sponsor of free online games. The company is responsible for creating the games Queen's blade, Grandchase, and Dragonball online, to name a few.
So far, the most popular Netmarble game that has put them on the map (basically) is the first person shooting game, which is similar to counter strike, Sudden Attack.
On the other hand, NCsoft is also a Korean based online, video and mobile game development company which is responsible for producing the Lineage series, City of Heroes, WildStar, Guild Wars, and Aion.
The company was established in 1997 and launched the first Lineage series in 1998.
Because of the Lieange's massive hit, the company has acquired companies across the globe and did not look back since then.
By 2014, NCsoft reported that on Lineage alone, the company managed to profit a total of 30 billion Korean Won or $25.3 million.
The partnership between NCsoft and Netmarble will surely be a hit considering the number of the Lineage's followers around the globe.
