After many rumors and reports, Activision has officially announced Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.
Full May Video Game Release Schedule For All Systems
The next entry in the long-running series is set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3 "later this year". Yes, more waiting will have to happen for release date details, but at least we know it's coming for sure now! (Update: An earlier version of this story mistakenly listed PC as one of the available platforms. The game is only coming to the consoles above, and we apologize for any confusion).
"Skateboarding has always been about the freedom of ripping with your friends, and creating a game that captures that feeling has been a vision of mine since the Pro Skater series began over 15 years ago," said Tony Hawk. "I'm beyond excited to see that dream finally come true with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, which takes the old-school attitude of the original games online in a big way."
Batman: Arkham Knight Voice Acting Lineup Confirmed, Big Name Talents Behind New Characters
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will focus on the same series signature gameplay of huge tricks and grind combos on a new set of levels. New items like power-ups and projectiles will add t that core experience and allow for additional objectives. Tony Hawk and today's top pros will be playable, such as Nyjah Huston, Riley Hawk, Aaron "Jaws" Homoki, Ishod Wair, Leticia Bufoni, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Andrew Reynolds, and Lizzie Armanto. You can also customize your own character.
As Hawk's statement above mentions, the online play will be a big part of the game this year. Multiplayer skate sessions will allow players to drop in and out of games with friends and challengers at any time, a series first. Players can complete missions and go head-to-head in competitive matches, as well as create skate parks to share with the community. The title will be developer by Robomodo and Disruptive Games.
