One of the most cherished games for the unfortunately timed Sega Saturn, NiGHTS, is coming back to the PSN and XBox Live Arcade.
A mix of flying and platforming, NiGHTS was one of the first games ever to utilize an analog control stick. The developers' intention was to make the sensation of flight the central gameplay element, achieved through use of the control stick, 3D graphics, and a combination of both 2D and 3D gameplay. The game also featured an open world environment when the two featured characters weren't masquerading as the titular hero.
The remake is said to feature a graphical overhaul, a 16:9 ratio, leaderboards, trophies / achievements, and for fans of the old school, an optional "Saturn Mode," which returns the game to its original 1996 graphics. Despite having a cult like following, NiGHTS fell into obscurity not long after the Sega Saturn's demise, though it did receive a sequel on the Nintendo Wii 11 years after the first games initial release.
No exact release date has been given, but Sega has hinted towards the fall. For a hint of nostalgia, or for you youngins, check the trailer below!
