Wii U fans were both excited and horrified by the prospect of a 200cc class coming to Mario Kart 8. 150 is hard enough as is, requiring a near perfect playthrough - and a substantial amount of luck - to three star each of the game's courses.
Super Smash Bros. Mewtwo Is Available For Club Nintendo Members Now For Free
But 200cc just kicks it up to a whole other level. The new mode arrives as a free update available to all gamers on April 23. Also on that day, Nintendo will be releasing the second DLC pack which adds Animal Crossing crossover characters and tracks. The company has released the full list of new and retro tracks that will be arriving next Thursday, and one stands out in particular: Baby Park.
Fans of Double Dash! - which is still the greatest Mario Kart game ever - are familiar with the simple oval track. The race is Mario Kart, distilled to its essence. They say it's better to be lucky than good, and for Baby Park, that is most assuredly true. It is eight player chaos, a constant barrage of green shells and bananas. Not running into someone else is a feat unto itself.
Kingdom Hearts III Details Coming Soon. We Hope.
It's fast, it's fun and it's about to get more of both. A new video posted online by Polygon combines Baby Park with the new 200cc mode and the results are...hard to follow, actually. The 7-lap race takes about 90 seconds to complete and there's madness around every turn.
We can't wait.
The full list of new tracks is below:
Baby Park (GameCube)
Koopa City (3DS)
Ribbon Road (GBA)
Cheese Land (GBA)
And the new tracks are...
Wild Woods
Super Bell Subway
Big Blue
Animal Crossing
The DLC pack also adds Villager, Isabelle, Dry Bowser to the roster of playable characters, and Bone Rattler, City Tripper, Streetle and P-Wing to the available karts.
The pack will cost $7.99. It's out next Thursday. See you on the course.
