When we look back on 2015, I hope we look at it not as a time of great social upheaval, of hatred, bigotry and the preamble to a grave and disastrous collapse of civilization, but rather as the year that we were able to say, without having to consider, '2015 was the year we finally got to see Mad Max: Fury Road'.
Amazon Prime's April Movie Release Does Include Jupiter Ascending!
Now, the movie itself hasn't come out yet, but if they give awards to the marketing department, then please give them everything and then some. The new Fury Road trailer is everything you want: breathless, at times highly unsafe action; dramatic monologue, stirring music, a guy who has a guitar that SHOOTS FIRE and another guy whose name is - I kid you not - Rictus Erectus.
Let us look back on the beginning of 2015 and say to ourselves, 'Maybe the movie turns out to be crap, but let us look upon these trailers and know that not everything is bad in this world of ours. Not everything at all.'
Assassin's Creed Chronicles Looks Like The AC Game You've Always Wanted
The new trailer gives us a little more of the film's plot: Max (Tom Hardy) will undoubtedly find himself crossing paths with a group of renegade women, led by Imperator Furiosa (another great name, and played by Charlize Theron) who are trying to escape from Immortan Joe, that dude who wears another man's jaw across his face.
If all it is the road warrior with 'people' instead of 'gasoline', it has the potential to be an instant classic.
The trailers thus far have all been classics, with the original one nearly breaking the internet and topping our list of best trailers of 2014. It's safe to say that the new one is already in contention for the best of 2015 and I can't imagine what else would dare go up against it.
"As the world fell, each of us in our own way was broken. It was hard to know who was more crazy: me, or everyone else."
The world goes mad, May 15. Watch the trailer below.
