Figuring out what shows up in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is like throwing darts to a wall filled with crack-pot ideas. Will it have Multiplayer? Can we play as Snake? Will there be cardboard boxes? Just why is Raiden a cyborg again? Did this really need to take five years to come out?
Hybrid Games asked Rising producer Yuji Korekado about the online functionality, which was quietly shot down before remarking that there would be DLC. Just what might be on this mysterious, post-purchase/pre-order incentive? The ability to (maybe) be another character and play additional missions!
The gigantic pink snake in the room is just that: if we can play as Raiden, does that mean we'll get Platinum Games' take on Snake as well? The chances of that happening are almost non-existant. The hinted "other character" will probably be one of the other two hinted cyborgs, ranging from Cyborg With Big Blade or Cyborg With Smaller Blade That Blocked Bullets in the Trailer. If we were talking something really awesome, for a character palate swap, maybe the hinted tease from Project Ogre could be the character?
As usual when writing about Revengeance, no definite timeline, release or price was given. The only thing that can be confirmed these days is the upcoming Zone of the Enders HD Bundle will have the first chance at the demo, which will come out later for Xbox and Playstation. It's getting really hard to keep caring about the adventures of Raiden and company when titles like Vanquish appear out of no where, literally look just as good and then are discarded in a matter of hours. Which is something, traditionally, we've never done with a Metal Gear game. Even Peace Walker which is incredibly replayable, just to string up knocked out foes via weather balloon.
Just saying, but a game released sooner than plans for no DLC wouldn't upset most folks. Or would it? Let us know in the comments.
