The very pricey version of the Apple Watch took headlines today, but that wasn't the only thing we saw from the company's live event.

As expected, a new MacBook debuted with some very unique features. While Apple's claims that it "reinvented the notebook" are much more lofty than the reality of the product, the new laptop is an impressive feat of engineering.
Weighing only 2lbs and coming in at 13.1mm, the 12-inch laptop will be priced at $1,299, with a beefed-up $1,599 model available as well. In addition to the usual color, the laptop comes in a rose gold that looks great with the thin form factor--but it had to sacrifice traditional ports and other features to reach that point. There are no USB or HDMI ports, but a new proprietary USB-C port that can handle all input types. There's only one, which significantly reduces options for multi-tasking or use as a workstation, but is a super-portable option for web browsing and writing on the go.
But don't worry--Apple can now charge you $79 for an adapter that will allow you to use your normal USB devices and other products, which are useless without otherwise. Yes, this model is ideally meant for those traveling and working, but be aware that Apple is literally removing your built-in port options and selling them back to you.

The keyboard is full-sized and the keys are individually backlit by LEDs, with a new butterfly mechanism for each key making presses more even and stable. Here are the specs for the $1,299 model, with the upgradeable options for the $1,599 model in brackets:
