Blizzard has announced Blackrock Mountain, the second single player campaign mode for Hearthstone, today at PAX East.
Live Long And Prosper With The Star Trek Online Leonard Nimoy Memorials
We aren't surprised. The gaming community had been calling it for a while, but it's nice to be vindicated! The new campaign will hit servers this April. Similar to the first campaign, Curse of Naxxramas, Blackrock Mountain will contain five wings that can be unlocked by the brave and worthy. It stands to reason that for a limited time, the wings will be free for those who wish to brave the heated depths of the mountain.
Blackrock Mountain is a central quest hub in World of Warcraft and is home to the villainous black dragonflight, led by Nefarian and the more...heated elements of the world. The new campaign will toss you right into the midst of an age old duel between Ragnaros, the Fire Lord and Nefarian where, like in The Seventh Seal, the only way to settle their differences is with a board game.
Happy Xursday! Where's The Destiny Merchant This Week?
Thirty one new cards will be coming with the set, but there will be an emphasis on Dragons, as well as new legendary cards for successfully completing each wing.
"Aside from dragons, there are plenty of other minions fighting on either side of the conflict: Dark Iron dwarves, fiery elementals, and the Blackrock orcs (who already had that name before it was cool)."
The first chapter, Blackrock Depths, unlocks in week 1 of the expansion. The other four wings have not been announced as of yet, but it stands to reason that they will also take a cue from their WoW counterparts: Blackwing Lair (home of Nefarian), Molten Core (Ragnaros' domain) will be among them, as is both Upper and Lower Blackrock Spire. All five wings are purchasable for $24.99, or you can buy each for 700 gold ($6.99).
Purchasing all the wings does not unlock them immediately, but they will be available to you the moment they are opened.
