Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have today announced that Fable Legends will be a free-to-play title.

A post on the official website announced the news, explaining that you can complete the game without paying a cent, and that everything that affects the gameplay can be earned simply through playing. Developers know gamers are wary of the free-to-play model meaning pay to win, and in this case Lionhead is seeking to cut off speculation before it can begin.
"In Fable Legends, whether you're adventuring as a Hero or smiting as a Villain, you will earn Silver to spend in-game," the site explains. "And everything that affects makes your characters or your creatures more powerful can be bought with the silver that you earn.
"You'll also be able to buy gold with real-world money, which can then be used to purchase many of the items that are also available for Silver."

The video below further explains how the model will work. Fable Legends is going to be available for Xbox One and Windows 10 only, with cross-play ability between the two platforms. Creating a quality title and making it as accessible to as many people as possible was a goal for the team according to the post, and this model will likely raise the number of people at least willing to try it out.
