The upgraded laptop model was announced yesterday, the first day of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. During the keynote address, the company's Phil Schiller announced that "Diablo 3" will be updated specifically to make use of the new Retina display, featuring a 2800 x 1800 resolution.
Schiller promised, "You will see a gaming experience with this resolution that you have never seen before."
This enhanced display MacBook Pro will sell for $2,199 and begins shipping Monday. But we've yet to hear when the revamped Diablo will make an appearance, as Blizzard has not announced a release date.
While Apple has never been a big name in the PC gaming community, usually falling behind Windows, this new emphasis on Diablo could indicate a switch. This new display could help them put up a fight against Microsoft. With over 130 million members in its Game Center, Apple does already have a built in audience.
With the WWDC still ongoing, we'll see if they have any other plans in store for gaming.
