Swedish developer Simogo has released a mysterious new Tweet that hints at a new platform for its titles.
Midnight Star Review: Handheld Halo
All of this is pure speculation, but it is fairly safe to assume that, according to this post on Twitter, various Simogo games will be coming to the Wii U's eShop at some point in the future. This is one hundred percent absolutely a great thing.
The company is responsible for some visually stunning and thoughtful games since their inception in 2010. Though they have only released six mobile titles so far, they're a company about quality, not quantity.
Our Hands On With Nintendo's Indiecade East Lineup!
A recent blog post from Simogo certainly attests to their desire to return to an old game: "We are working on two other things very actively, though! Both are projects which allows us to revisit two previous works of ours, but in two very different ways. We're ready to show off one of them soon, but the other one needs to brew a little more before we can show it. We're excited about both of them, and we're having fun in exploring these universes in new ways."
Their most popular title, Year Walk - which is also one of the most unnerving games you'll ever play - was ported to PC and Mac platforms last year. Now imagine playing Year Walk on the Wii U, the game on the big screen and the companion app, which goes into all the Swedish folklore and notes that enhance the gameplay experience on the Wii U Gamepad.
Or traversing the serene ocean world of The Sailor's Dream with a map of what you've explored and notes to guide you along?
Bumpy Road, their charming little endless runner, could get a boost with Nunchuck support, and even multiplayer capabilities, or even later on, the inclusion of Miis as the main character.
Heck, Kosmo Spin is basically Super Mario Galaxy and that's just one of the best games ever. Beat Sneak Bandit could offer up an easier way to move to the rhythm, giving you better control of your timing rather than the somewhat finicky touchscreen device.
DEVICE 6, Simogo's intriguing murder mystery narrative, could greatly benefit from a separate screen organizer for all the clues, maps, notes, etc that the WiiU Gamepad could provide.
The best part, it could be something new entirely. We can't wait to find out.
