Get A First Look At Heavenstrike Rivals, An Upcoming F2P Mobile Game From Square Enix, In New Concept Video

Square Enix has released a short concept video about their upcoming free-to-play mobile strategy title, Heavenstrike Rivals.

Rivals combines elements of both Eastern and Western game design, as evidenced by the slightly awkward presentation at the beginning of the video from British developer Paul Croft of Mediatonic and Masanori Ichikawa from Square Enix.

The two highlight some of the basic game features; such as the over 200 units you can collect and train, the real-time multiplayer mode, and - my personal favorite - an epic single player campaign. Do my ears hear that rare siren call? Will I be able to play this offline? I just might.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Adds Bizarro And Friends

"Players enter a war-torn world on the brink of extinction and embark on an epic adventure full of simple, yet highly immersive, tactical battles. The once-prosperous aerial kingdom of Lunnain lays in tatters, assaulted from above by the Fallen - ruthless nightmare monsters that seek only complete destruction. But the people of Lunnain will not take their fate lying down, and their strike back at the heavens starts now."

The game is currently in beta in various countries, but will release worldwide later this month on iOS and Android devices.

Featuring character design from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance artist Ryoma Ito and music by Ryo Yamazaki, who scored Final Fantasy XIV, Heavenstrike Rivals does look intriguing. We hope its IAP is not too constrictive, though details on that have not been released as of yet.

No word on the precise release date for Heavenstrike Rivals. Watch the short, slightly awkward introduction below, followed by the brief look at the war to come in the concept video.
